Workforce Education Initiative

Overview

The Education Department within a top Fortune 100 health care company needed to outsource the development and delivery of 3 distinct class offerings:

  1. Internal Compliance

  2. New Workflow Software

  3. Facilities Intranet Site Navigation & Request Initiation

While material was developed in Power Point for the Internal Compliance class, new material was required for the Workflow software as well as the Facilities class.  Face-to-face and WebEx training was required for these two classes while the Compliance training required asynchronous computerized e-training (via a self-paced web demonstration).  For post-rollout purposes, web demonstrations were requested for the Workflow software as well as the Facilities intranet site.

Target

Develop course material for 3 class offerings. Translate the course material into 3 distinct, Articulate-based, web demonstrations as well as provide for 2 instructor-led course offerings.

Solution Delivery

eta one approached this project in two stages:

  • Stage I: Analysis & Storyboarding

  • Stage II: Delivery & Execution

For Stage I, eta one worked with this client to create a draft of the instructor-led training material (where applicable), and develop storyboards for the web demonstrations. Knowledge mastery questions were incorporated into each medium to evaluate knowledge retention. In addition, job aids were included for each of these courses to aid employees after their training.

Stage II included posting the completed web demonstrations to our client’s Knowledge Management System as well as providing client support during all instructor-led classes both locally and offsite.

Results

The curriculum, lesson plans and storyboards for the 3 classes were reviewed and approved by the client using an iterative process. Once plans and storyboards were approved, instructors utilized the plans to train students through face-to-face and video conference classes while the storyboards were converted into Articulate-based web demonstrations and posted to our client’s eLearning Platform. Instructor-led training was delivered in a series of “waves” during a 3-month period. Each of these courses was utilized by approximately 60% of our client’s work force once the “wave” training had concluded. Post-course survey satisfaction averaged 86%. After this 3-month period, further use of the web demonstrations increased employee use of eta one's materials.
